I'm Here in SXSW 2005

Post @ 12:35 in Conference/Events

I’m here in Austin Convention center for my second year of SXSW Interactive Conference! I’m not alone because my partner Liang and Tony both come with me this year.

I was so excited to met Mary in the morning session, she’s one of my favorite blogger friend and gives me some great helps when I’m in San Francisco last year. Then I met Dave in the hall way, he was running for the registration. ;)

A lot of nice people I was looking forward to meet with, so I’m not going to waste my time sneak in the corner table by typing blog entries. Just let you know, If you see a Chinese Guy name is “Kevin Wen”, Please come to say hi and probably we will get some interesting conversations. At least you will know something about Chinese Blogosphere and the emerging market place. Oh, yes I’m look like this.

Blogging + Social Networking: Road to personal portal

Post @ 12:21 in Blogging - Conference/Events

Here is the abstract of our speech in this coming CDF conference in UC berkeley. I'm still working on the PPT file.

Abstract
The blogging concept was first introduced in China in 2002. It grew rapidly and became popular in merely one year. In 2003, Social Networking and related applications started to surface in China. There are more than 300,000 people who are actively involved in Blogging and Social Networking sites. These new methods of self-expression and communication have started a new Internet trend in China. People are publishing their thoughts and experiences on Blog sites. Social Networking tools help them to establish new connections and enhance existing friendships.

Currently, blogging service providers are seeking new opportunities to commercialize their businesses. At the same time, they are adjusting their strategy to comply with evolving government regulations on Internet usage. Social Networking service providers are striving to find a profitable business model. What if we combine these two seemingly separate but yet fundamentally related concepts?

Blogging and Social Networking complement each other. Their value can potentially be multiplied through integration. Blogging improves the interaction of Social Networking users. Blogger communities become tighter and stronger via Social Networking. Naturally, this new breed of collaboration and communication application evolves into a personal portal.
